10 Tips to Stay on Track during Holidays and Summer BBQ's

I love the Summer, Holidays and BBQ's! It is a wonderful to spend time with family and friends! I believe in balance and I am realistic! I have learned over the years a few tricks that help me to still enjoy fun holiday weekends and not have a huge effect on the scale!

Here is a quick list of my 10 Tips to Stay on Track this Holiday Weekend!

1. Get your workout in! - No skipping out, this is a must! This is especially important on days when you plan to splurge.

2. Hydrate - You are going to want to drink at least half your weight in ounces of water plus extra! Stay away from high sugary drinks and soda's. Don't waste your calories there! Try Seltzer and unsweetened tea's!

3. Eat healthy meals all day before you go! - Eating small meals every 2-3 hours and keeping it clean. My go to is a Shake before I go! Don't go to the BBQ starving!

4. Get enough sleep! - We tend to eat more when we are tired and have even more cravings!

5. Get Outdoors and Be Active - Bike rides and walks are perfect!

6. Go Easy on the alcohol - You can still enjoy but try healthier swaps! Stay away from the daiquiri's which are so high in sugar.

7. You are not on a diet - It is a healthy lifestyle! - It is all about balance! I follow the 80/20 rule where you make healthy choices 80% of the time and 20% treats! Save your treats for times like this.

8. Plan before you go! - Have a plan of what you decide to splurge on. I know sweets are my favorite or sometimes it is a juicy cheeseburger. If it is your Grandmother's traditional recipe that you just can't miss out on, then go for it! If your going to a restaurant you can check out the menu before you go. There are always healthy options available.

9. Bring a healthy side dish or dessert! - There are tons of recipes that still taste amazing even though they are "healthy"! Message me and I can lead you in the right direction!

10. Take time to relax too! - Enjoy your time with family and friends! You work hard and you deserve to enjoy this time. Have no regrets!

Remember to get right back on track the next day. Enjoy it and don’t feel guilty. Stay on a clean eating plan daily so on holiday weekends and special occasions you can enjoy a good old splurge with no regrets! Keep an 80/20 rule. 80% you will eat on point and 20% is for splurges. You will actually feel better, have more energy and enjoy the summer! I have been eating this way for the past 10 years and it works!
